Do you desire to live your life on purpose?

pur·pose

/ˈpərpəs/

noun

  1. 1.
the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.

I believe there is a strong desire in each of us to determine why we were created; and knowing our purpose is crucial in how we live our lives.

For the longest time I knew that I had a gift to communicate with others; there was no doubt that I was a talker! I still remember as a kid hearing people say “you talk too much” or “you are too bossy”.  I didn’t know this then but those words not meant to intentionally harm me, fueled lies that would attempt to restrain my calling and purpose.

Even as a leader in adulthood, I would sometimes wonder if my words would be considered valuable.  That’s right, even though I had self confidence in so many areas, I would still question if I could hold my own as a leader.

This negative mindset began to shift when I was gifted a book called, ‘Lean In’  by one of the senior leaders of the company I worked for. While I learned several lessons through reading the book, the life changing lesson I learned was, “If you have been invited to the table, be fully engaged!”

I’m confident that things don’t just happen by chance, but have been designed for you as opportunities to learn, grow and advance. So I put that into practice immediately! I seized every opportunity to lead unhindered.  I decided to come into alignment with my purpose. From that day on, I saw so many doors of influence open for me because I refused to let fear lead me.

Living life on purpose is living your life intentionally and unhindered!

Do you desire to live your life on purpose? Here are some things you can do:

1). Define your purpose: What are you good at, what comes naturally to you, what do you do effortlessly?  Invite trusted friends and peers in this conversation.  Many times others can see how impactful our gifts are.

2). Let your purpose influence your daily decisions: When you identify your gift you will not make haphazard decisions, but you will be deliberate knowing that your life results are determined by your daily choices.

3). Build relationships with those that see your potential and value your purpose: It’s critical that you know your self worth.  God created you in His image (Genesis 1:27).  His love and value for you is not dependent on what you do, but totally dependent on who He is!  When you know your worth you will set the standards for healthy relationships.  Carefully consider being mentored by someone who is an example of the goal you are trying to obtain.

Living on Purpose is a journey, but doing what you are called to do will always be fulfilling!
